Driven by Science

I use the latest research in the neuroscience of human development to provide a road map for higher levels of consciousness and effectiveness, both in organizations and in life. Neuroscience that includes understanding the brain and executive function, integration, polarities, change, learning and stress reduction.

Experience

I have over 10 years experience in leadership, team development, facilitation and training; individual, group and team work in corporate and not for profit organizations. I have experience working with ethnically diverse populations in the U.S., Middle East and Rwanda.

Ethical

As an International Coach Federation, ICF, Professional Coach, I acknowledge and agree to honor my ethical and legal obligations to my coaching clients and sponsors, colleagues, and to the public at large. I pledge to comply with the ICF Code of Ethics and to practice these standards with those whom I coach.

Great Support

I believe in the co-active approach. You decide the agenda; I support you to make it real. I provide focus, acknowledgement, accountabilities and coaching skills. Support that includes letting you know when you are playing small, or not following the direction you have said you want to travel.

Works Everywhere

Coaching is flexible and functional. Meetings occur at your office or office phone, my office, or even a coffee shop. It happens in urban, rural or suburban areas; U.S. or international. Coaching works with any geography as long as there is partnership, trust and desire to maximize potential.

  • I found that Joan was the calm, centering perspective that let me see my life in a new way. She essentially creates a sanctuary for her clients, so that within each session I was able to step out of the moment, find my inner director, and start taking control of my life. Joan's temperament is well suited to the listening and asking that allowed me to find my own answers.

  • This experience opened my eyes to what our team’s strengths and areas of improvement are as well as my own. By knowing these things we can continue to work on improving them and becoming stronger as individuals as well as a team. If we didn’t go through this process I don’t think we would have identified some of these things on our own. I just want to thank you for your time and commitment to our team.

  • I experienced Joan Haan to be a skilled and gifted coach. She is insightful, imaginative and brave. She is willing to ask the tough and important questions that I am often afraid or unwilling to ask myself. She brings a joy and playfulness to her work that makes life/work planning fun and energizing. Most important of all, I trust her.

  • Your coaching in the Seven Levels of Effectiveness* has been helpful for me. I did need your encouragement, modeling and help actively practicing the steps initially, but am now able to implement them in both personal and work situations on my own. I have become more accepting of where I am, and look to find the pearl in where I am. The time we have spent together has been both valuable and practical. I feel like I have some tools to be more effective.
